Icon of Torment

Icon of Torment

The next piece of Wowjewellery I had made was the Icon of Torment which is the Crest for the Forsaken Undead, this was to immortalise my Undead Rogue who I had many happy times with in World of Warcraft Battlegrounds.

The Forsaken are humanoids transformed into the Undead, with all the powers associated with the Scourge. They serve the Banshee Queen Sylvanas, looking up to her as their saviour for delivering them from the Lich King’s dominance.

When the Lich King’s power weakened during the events surrounding the Frozen Throne, Sylvanas managed to free herself from Prince Arthas grasp. She also freed many other Undead as well, and recruited powerful allies from the Burning Legion and the surrounding Ogre clans.

Sylvanas then defeated the attempt by the three Dreadlords, Balnazzar, Varimathras, and Detheroc to regain control over the Undead forces in Lordaeron, killing two and forcing the third Varimathras into her service in exchange for sparing his life. Sylvanas named her new force the Forsaken and pronounced herself Queen, and the Undead established their capital in the labyrinthine crypts beneath Lordaeron’s capital city. Their sprawling subterranean realm is called Undercity.

The Icon of Torment symbolizes the Undead leader Sylvanas Windrunner - the “shattered face”, the worn arrows, the tears and the raven on the shield are all symbols of the Forsaken Undead.

The Undead are represented by worn, breaking chains in the Crest of the Horde.

IMO this pendant is very striking and makes the ideal Warcraft Gift for any Gamer.

Anathema - Benediction Staff

by on Feb.18, 2009, under Alliance Pendants, Horde Pendants, Warcraft Lore, World of Warcraft Gifts

Anathema/Benediction

This was an awesome event when I got this staff inVanilla WOW for my priest, what made this staff special was the fact that it was, in my opinion, hands down the best looking staff in World of Warcraft at that time and pretty difficulty to get. Now i believe they would be fantastic Warcraft gifts for any gamer who ever owned one.Anathema - Benediction

It required almost full Molten Core clears(well up to Majordomo), and a lot of them unless you were very lucky on the drop, then a long and tricky quest chain that at parts needed a 5 man group to complete.

So it gave a certain amount of Kudos to your character to be walking around Ironforge with this beauty equipped.

Oh yes!! and there’s the unique ability to transform it every 30 minutes between the two versions of the staff, the healing version Benediction and the dps version Anathema and you could swap even when in combat.

Originally in ancient Greek the word Anathema meant something that was offered up to God, but through time has come to mean something set apart from God. Sometimes, even accursed. I only put this in as it seemed weird to me how the meaning of things can get so corrupted over time

Brain Hacker

by on Jul.15, 2009, under Alliance Pendants, Horde Pendants, World of Warcraft Gifts

Brain HackerBrain Hacker

There’s not a lot to say about this item really.

Brain Hacker is a two-handed axe with a damage proc that also lowers the Intellect of your target, making it a very effective weapon against spell casters.

The end of this massive axe is jagged and irregular, with a single jutting spike that resembles the metal end of an ice pick. The back end of the axe blade is covered in convoluted lumps of metal arranged so as to resemble a human cerebrum. The brain hacker is specially designed to slay arcane spell casters.

Original Drawing for MouldI picked this up in a Stratholme run on my rogue and won it on a greed roll as no one needed, not being able to use it I put it on the Auction House and made 250g that was a huge amount to me at the time.

I really liked the design so decided to make it a Warcraft Gift Pendant, also it celebrated my windfall on the AH :)

Someone told me that they thought the name Brain Hacker was a reference to The Matrix but I cant find anything to confirm that.

Phantom Blade

by on Feb.18, 2009, under Alliance Pendants, Horde Pendants, Warcraft Lore, World of Warcraft Gifts

I had this piece of Wow Jewellery made because I thought that in the game it was one of the best models at that time for a weapon and now i think they would make great Warcraft Gifts for anyone who had this sword in the old WoW. The Phantom Blade is a ghostly white almost translucent blade which was the bane of Rogues everywhere especially in Battlegrounds as it could prevent them from stealthing away, even if they used Vanish.

I still remember my joy at getting this weapon, both on my Paladin and, as main hand on my Rogue, what a cool looking weapon it was and at that time would last you well on into the mid level 50’s or higher, unless you were fortunate to get Thrash Blade from Maraudon, even then I think the Phantom Blade just looks so much better I would still be tempted to keep it. That’s probably why I never went to Maraudon :) .

It was also one of the few weapons that when sheathed is placed on your back not your side, that looks really nice.

The World of Warcraft Lore attached to the weapon is really interesting to. During the last war, the Lich King outfitted some of his incorporeal Undead Warriors with special armor, making them difficult to deal with. In response, Human craftsmen developed the Phantom Blade to combat this. These longswords are a translucent white colour, and seem to disappear almost entirely in sunlight.

Banner of the Horde

by on May.21, 2009, under Horde Pendants, Warcraft Lore

Banner of the Horde

banner-of-the-hordeThis is one of the next Warcraft Gifts that I intend to have made as it encompasses all of the Horde races I think it might be of interest to World of Warcraft players. At some point in the future it would be nice if Blizzard incorporated some emblem to represent the Blood Elves in this Banner.

The Horde

The Horde (New Horde) is one of the two major factions of the mortal races in Azeroth, the other is the Alliance. Its ideals and beliefs have changed over time, but it is the same Horde inherited by Thrall through Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer.

Major races included in the Horde are:

The OrcsOrc Crest

The Orcs are led by Warchief Thrall. Their Capital is Orgrimmar in Durotar. They also have camps throughout Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms and since the reopening of the Dark Portal, they have expanded into Outland. More recently they have moved into Northrend.

The Horde symbol in the centre of the banner represents the Orcs.

The TrollsTroll Crest

The Trolls are led by Shadowhunter Vol’jin. They were forced to flee from their home on Echo Isles when they were attacked by the Kul Tiras marines. They now share a capital with the Orcs in Orgrimmar. They have camps in Durotar, Ashenvale, Stonetalon Mountains and Desolace and control both Horde outposts in Zangarmarsh.

The wooden Voodoo Totems on the Horde banner represent the Trolls.

The TaurenTauren Crest

The Taurens are led by High Chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof. Their capital is Thunder Bluff in Mulgore. They also have camps in the Barrens, Thousand Needles, Stonetalon Mountains, Desolace, Feralas and Felwood. The Taurens are a race of noble creatures who offer spiritual guidance to the Orcs in exchange for their military aid, and also supply them with their Kodo mounts.

The feathers on the Horde banner represent the Taurens.

The Undead ForsakenUndead Crest

The Forsaken are led by the Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner. Their capital is the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades. They also have camps in Silverpine Forest and the Hillsbrad Foothills, as well as a town in the Howling Fjord of Northrend. They are a group of Undead released from the control of the Lich King who have set up a truce with the other members of the Horde.

The worn chains on the Horde banner represent the Undead Forsaken.

The Blood Elves

blood-elf-crest1The Blood Elves are led by Lor’themar Theron, Regent Lord of Quel’Thalas, in the wake of Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider’s betrayal. Their capital is Silvermoon City in Eversong Woods in northern Quel’Thalas. They also have camps in the Ghostlands and an encampment in Hellfire Peninsula in Outland. The Blood Elves were formerly the noble High Elves ,shunned and attacked for their magic addiction and betrayed by members of the Alliance, the Blood Elves turned to the Horde to help them reach Outland and achieve their destiny.

To date the Blood Elves have no representation on the Horde banner future representation could be in the form of a drop of blood or the Phoenix.

Blood Elf Mage Pendant

by on May.11, 2009, under Horde Pendants, Warcraft Lore, World of Warcraft Gifts

Blood Elf

Blood Elf Mage

This World of Warcraft Gift was a one off made for a friend who had decided to make his main a Blood Elf mage although why he switched to the Horde I will never understand lol, probably so he could whip me in Battlegrounds:).

He had seen some of the WoW Crests I had made and thought it would be cool to have a Warcraft Gift pendant for himself. This was made up from a drawing produced from a screen shot of his character the piece measures approx 2.5” inches long by 1.25” wide.

I have also added here, along with the picture of this Warcraft Gift, a brief summary of Warcraft Lore about the Blood Elves

The Blood Elves ( Sin’dorei - meaning “children of the blood”)

Some 10,000 years before the First War they were originally the Highborne Elves under the reign of the night blood-elf-crestelf Queen Azshara. Due to their reckless use of the power of the Well of Eternity they drew the attention of Sargeras and The Burning Legion and this started the War of the Ancients which ended with the destruction of the Well and the release of this power blasted Kalimdor apart. After this Great Sundering the surviving Highborne were exiled from Kalimdor and founded the Kingdom of Quel’Thalas in the Eastern Kingdoms and it was here they formed the Sunwell and called themselves High Elves.

During the Third War, most of the High Elves were eradicated and the Sunwell corrupted when Prince Arthas led his army of the Scourge against them. In remembrance of their fallen brethren, most of them renamed themselves the Blood Elves, or Sin’dorei, and swore to avenge their fallen race. Desperate for aid the Blood Elves allied with the Naga. This was seen as treachery by the Alliance and they were sentenced to death.

Blood Elves feel betrayed by the Alliance and are enemies of both humans and the Night Elves and their only real allies are the Naga although they do work with the Forsaken as they have the same goals.

With the promise of the return of Kael’thas, the Blood Elves have a renewed purpose; they have rebuilt the city of Silvermoon, and now focus on regaining their strength.

Orc Crest - The Icon of Battle

by on Mar.23, 2009, under Horde Pendants, Warcraft Lore, World of Warcraft Gifts

Orc Crest - Icon Of Battle

Icon of Battle

After having written this blog it has re-ignited my passion for Wow Jewellery and the Warcraft Lore behind the designs so I have decided that I will post a complete set of all the WOW Racial Crests, with the intention that I will have designs for all of them sketched and made up into items for Warcraft Gifts in the future.

The obvious next one for me to do is the “Old Enemy” the Orcs.
The Orcs were born on the world of Draenor, they came to Azeroth through the Dark Portal and started the First World of Warcraft War against the humans while under the influence of the Burning Legion.

The Orcs were once a noble, shamanistic society on Draenor but were corrupted by the Burning Legion and used as pawns in the Legion’s invasion of Azeroth. The Orcs managed to rebel, however, and they were ultimately, during the Third World of Warcraft War, able to help turn the tide against their Demon masters. Led by the Warchief Thrall, the Orcs have reclaimed their strength and honour and have settled in Kalimdor where they have founded the nation of Durotar.

The concept of honour is the most important element of Orcish society for an Orc, honour is as important as his Clan, and most will die defending either Clan or personal reputation. Orcs now have embraced a life of wisdom, honour and the values embodied in the leadership of Thrall.

Now, the Orcs stand ready to fight not for the sake of conquest, but for their very right of survival in their new adopted world.

The Orcs racial crest is The Icon of Battle. The wolves represent the Frostwolf Clan, as well as the Orcs‘ kinship with wolves, and the crossed axes symbolize their skill in battle. The Symbol of the Horde at the centre of the shield represents the Orcs in the Horde Racial Crest.
